Stories & Testimonials

My brother Robbie has loved living in his Rainbow Village home for over eight years. His housemates are his ‘family’. Previously, Robbie lived at home with our parents and was very depressed because he didn’t have much to do. It was difficult for my parents to let him go, but they finally agreed to let Robbie move into a neighborhood Rainbow Village home. It was time for Robbie to have his own life, his own friends, and to be allowed to grow as a person. Robbie now has established his own self and pursues his own favorite activities, both as an individual and with his housemates. . My family is happy knowing that he is in a structured, safe and nurturing environment. On the weekends, Robbie visits with our mom who lives nearby, and with my family. What gives us the most pleasure is knowing how happy Robbie is. “What time do I get to go HOME” are the best words we hear on Sunday afternoons.

Having an accessible home for our daughter is wonderful since she now uses a wheelchair. The ramp and roll-in shower are great.

Volunteering at Rainbow Village gave my work team a chance to bond outside the office environment while helping with a great cause. The staff at Rainbow Village was a pleasure to work with and we couldn’t have completed our task without them. In addition, we met some of the residents at Rainbow Village who were friendly and thankful for our efforts.”

Rainbow Village serves two constituent groups equally – both the developmentally disabled and their families. By providing a community in which to live and belong, Rainbow Village’s homes help to fulfill and enrich the lives of its residents. In turn, providing these residents a safe and happy place to live gives their loved ones peace of mind and freedom of their own. As someone with a developmentally disabled family member, I understand the substantial benefits provided to residents and their families. By supporting this organization, I’m helping to create and maintain the home and community environment that means so much to so many.

RBV is an organization that takes the well-being of its residents very seriously. It is extremely rewarding to serve such an efficient, fiscally responsible organization and to see the results of your efforts first-hand on the thankful faces of the residents.”

Rainbow Village allows its residents to have a real home in the community with a family of friends, which many of us take for granted
– James Fogle, Past President, Board of Directors

Rainbow Village has a great staff. They are attentive, personable and want the best for our residents. Rainbow Village works on making the homes look inviting and run smoothly by performing day to day maintenance to ensure that everything works properly and meets the needs of the residents.

The locker room renovations at Rainbow Village  provide individuals with disabilities a locker room environment that is both accessible and safe. In addition, a higher level of accessibility promotes greater inclusion for all individuals. An environment of community inclusion will enable more individuals to take advantage of the therapeutic qualities of the Aqua Ability Program.
